It has been three months since we arrived in Spain and in a way, we feel that more time has passed since we left Guatemala. The Lord has allowed us to get in contact and meet people in different contexts who support the Church in Spain, not only in the city where we are, but also in other parts of the country. At the same time, the Lord has reminded us that processes take time, and that in truth we have only been in the country for a short time. Sometimes we would like to do more, but the Lord reminds us that the conquests of territories take time, that deep and meaningful relationships take time, and that we are in a project that has early results, but the most significant ones are long term. In the midst of this, we have learned to trust in the Lord, in His faithfulness that surpasses us and in His love that goes far beyond what we can see.
This month we had the strategic meetings in South Africa, which we were unable to attend because of Rodri´s visa. Even so, we were informed of the decisions made regarding our operations in Southern Europe. We have decided to modify the approach to the church planting project and contextualize it in a better way for the region. In a society where depression and anxiety are at ever increasing levels, we see the need to create communities that accompany people and above all, disciple them. That is why we are focusing on sharing discipleship materials with local churches, developing one-on-one, follow-up programs with the goal of forming true Christians, not just churchgoers. We see that the connections God has given us with other ministries that have complementary objectives and materials add to the goal of deep, Scripture-based discipleship and that is why we are looking to the future with a lot of work. We are seeing the church planting as the result of the work of the discipleship and the fruit of true evangelism.
On another note, our legal processes have gone well, we are just waiting for our residency cards to be delivered and we will have completed the process this year. We pray that the renewal process will be faster than this year and that we will be able to do it efficiently.
From October 3-10 we will be in Italy. It will be our first visit to the country and we are looking forward to what the Lord is going to do in those days. Please pray for us, for protection, wisdom and grace. That the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be preached and that we will find men and women of peace in the city. That we find the right people to work and partner with. We ask for prayer for all the development of the activities of the rest of this year 2024. It will be a quarter with many activities and we ask that the Lord is guiding each step.
Thank you for being part of what the Lord is doing in Europe and in the world.
Rodri & Katie.
